What makes you a writer?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

What makes me a writer is if I have written something that is finished, then I write something else that is finished, and so on, and as long as I write something that is finished and that is more than once in a longer period of time, then I am a writer. If I write things and don't finish them, then I am not a writer. If I think about writing, or learn about writing but don't do it, then I am not a writer. If I join a writers group and don't write, then I am not a writer. If I write things and finish them, and they are not good, then I am not a writer but an aspiring writer. If I eat, sleep and dream about writing but don't do it, I am not a writer. If I write and write and don't finish anything, then I am not a writer. If I write things that are beyond my capacity to write and they do not turn out well, then maybe I am a writer but not a good one. If I perpetually write things that are below my capacity to write then maybe I am a writer but also not a good one, then I would be avoiding being a good writer. If I write things that are not what I would wish them to be for any reason then perhaps I am still an aspiring writer and not a real writer that is good. If I find myself avoiding writing while wanting to write and also when there is no time to do either then perhaps that could be called one of two things:

How to Stop Procrastinating
