What makes the phoenix zoo different from other zoos in the United States of America?
My aunt’s grandchildren visited the phoenix zoo last summer and couldn’t stop talking about the zoo. They have been to several zoos but I have never seen them so excited about any other zoo. Is there a distinct animal or bird in the phoenix zoo that other zoos don’t have? Is there a special treat given to the children who visit the zoo? Are there other activities at the phoenix zoo that makes it stand out?

Oh, my gosh, where to begin?!? Obviously, the focus on desert life is distinctive. True, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson out-does the Phoenix Zoo in that category, but the P.Z. is great, too.
The Phoenix Zoo just opened up a new habitat for the orangutans - including one of the original residents who just turned 50 YEARS OLD. Duchess and the other orangs are always fun to watch.
The conservation education programs are excellent, and I've spent many a wonderful morning and/or afternoon and/or night there. We don't go as often as the kids are getting older, but we join the crowds on some of the beautiful spring, winter or autumn days!
(It is also very conveniently located to almost all of the spread-out Phoenix area, in Papago Park - a BIG plus!)
