What makes the Clam Chowder Bowl so popular in San Francisco?
The last time I was in San Francisco, I noticed that there were advertisements everywhere for clam chowder bowls, from Fisherman’s Warf and Rainforest Café and more. I am interested to know why this bowl is so popular in San Francisco. Who made it popular? How long has it been a signature ‘meal’ in San Francisco? Is it just popular down by the water? Is it seasonal at these restaurants? Which restaurant has the best review for their clam chowder bowl? Any and all information available on this subject would be much appreciated! These bowls are delicious, and I will try each restaurants if I have to! :-D

I think the two ingredients speak for themselves: clam chowder and sourdough bread.
San Francisco, one of the culinary centers in the world, produces both with fresh ingredients. Bakeries such as Boudin Bakery and others make excellent sourdough products. The chowder is excellent because fresh clams are delivered to the warf daily!
