What Major Events are expected in 2010?
And if you are a page manager could you consider it being a potentially lucrative term to preemptively build?

M$By the end June 2010, a Russian academic Igor Panarin is predicting that the United States will literally fall apart.
~quote~
"Mr. Panarin posits, in brief, that mass immigration, economic decline, and moral degradation will trigger a civil war next fall and the collapse of the dollar. Around the end of June 2010, or early July, he says, the U.S. will break into six pieces -- with Alaska reverting to Russian control."
~end/quote~
He believes that the ethics and economics will force a collapse and eventual civil war in the States. He bases his forecast on classified data that he has seen (he did have a career in the KGB).
If you're an American, you might want to get a head start and pick a side now before it's too late.

M$I think this would make a great discussion here on Mahalo and be happy to tip for it.
That's ridiculous. Everyone here knows Louisiana is going back to France!
Congratulations! Your answer won third place in our Answer of the Day contest! You win $1.00 and are now the proud owner of the Mahalo Tiki Torch!
If you also think she did a great job, go vote for her again here On the nomination I gave her. (^_^)V
Jeff - Would creating an 'Igor Panarin' page with a countdown clock be a little harsh?
- FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa
- British General Election
I doubt it is worth builidng pages for these events per se, because they will get a glut of coverage from mainstream media. What's more it will be extremely difficult to keep up with such broad and fast moving topics!
However, if you fancy pre-emptively building pages, you might try to think up related niche topics... maybe things like...
- Currently little known stadiums where matches will be played
- Places to stay in cities hosting the World Cup
- Some relatively unknown politician who may become a government minister after the UK election
More interesting might be "major events" in the niches that are already of interest to you, and maybe have pages about.
In my case that could be things like...
- Apple are likely to launch some form of tablet like device. I have already built an iPad page. But we don't really know what it'll be called!
- There will undoubtedly be a Wimbledon tennis tournament. It might be worth building some kind of niche pages for Wimbledon 2010.
- Doctor Who will return for a new series. Again, there might be niche pages that could be worth building in anticipation.
- Work should begin on Peter Jackson's movie of The Hobbit. There should be a bit of a stir when the actor who will play Bilbo Baggins is announced. Alas, I don't know who will be cast!
To be honest, I haven't so far had a lot of success with trying to make pages pre-emptively!

M$The Olympics will be held in Vancouver Canada in 2010.
Pedictions:
1. There we will see more drastic weather changes in the US with more disasters such as earthquakes.
2. Increased protest over the economic crisis that the population as a whole will feel the government has gotten us into.
3. The economy will get worse related to the toll that the flu season will take on the population with people out of work. Not just the flu but N1H1.
4. We may see another attack on US soil to turn attention away from what is happening economically and politically.
These are just some thoughts because most of this people can see happening.

M$besides its the winter olympics no? and the biggest event of the year will no doubt be the FIFA worldcup, as always :)))
oh dear. I hope somebody can chime in with some positive predictions to counter your negative ones.
1. Death. About 48,000,000 people will die during 2010. Possibly more if there is some true disaster, but probably not less. Countless animals and plants will also die.
2. Taxes. About two and a half trillion dollars will be collected in Federal Taxes in the USA, vastly more will be collected by governments at various levels around the world. It will all be spent.
3. On February 2nd, 2010, led by the notorious Tufty, the squirrels (including ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots, groundhogs, and their ilk) will rise up and try to wrest world dominion from human kind. They will begin with scattered attacks on power lines and terrorist attacks on women and children. This time, however, it will quickly turn into all out war as the squirrels bring out the heavy weapons they have squirreled away over the last century.
