What mailbox construction is best?

We had a steel one that after 7 years got rusted and the hinge pins rusted off.

Is aluminum or plastic a better choice for a replacement mailbox?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Personally I prefer the plastic ones. There is usually no way for rain or wetness to get in and nothing rusts away. Also, it is easy to repair with some rubber glue if you are in an area that has frequent hail storms like I am. Another good thing is sticker house numbers tend to stay on plastic longer so you won't have to replace your house number as often. Hope this helps.
