What lens is this?
Here's what I know about the lens. It is old, at least 15 years, it's a Nikkor by Nikon, f/2.8 max aperture, f/22 minimum. It's 35mm and it has a number on it 549344. I need to find out what lens this is so I can try to sell it used, or if it will work on my D90 without damaging it (I'm not going to try unless I know for certain).

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You are showing us the wrong end, we need to see the mount end. Does it look like this? (A)

or this? (B)

or this? (C)

A & B will work on your D90 without damaging the body, C will not. Check the source for more detailed information.

I don't think too many people are going to care about the specific model name/number, if you're going to sell it, but they will need to know the mount, so that is really the important question.
B can be eitther an AI or an AIS. On the AI the aperture number 16 (the smallest on the lens) is painted blue. On AIS lenses, the smallest aperture number is always painted orange. Another difference between AI and AIS lenses are marked with the 5, the milled slot at the left and the fixed tab at the bottom on the AIS in the two right hand lenses.
The pictures you provided aren't detailed enough to determine the details for you lens. To get down to that degree they need to be like the ones shown in the samples. If you are still interested here is a site that helps you identify the difference off of the lens landmarks. http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-153.html
Type B uses a tab to engage the metering ring, Type C used a round pin. Type B's also have the additional aperture markings. The problem with selling it is that it won't meter on a modern body which is going to severely reduce it's value.
I know, I said it is exactly like B, but I don't know what B is.
Thanks, It is an AI-S :)
Also, what lens is it therefore, is it AI, AI-S or what, just in case I want to sell it on KEH, I need to know which one it is exactly.
I know it won't meter, but I need to find out what it is to find out how much i can get for it on KEH.
Whats the difference between B and C. I know its not A. Here is a pic of that side.
