The Cuban Missile crisis played a role but it was not the main reason for his fall. It was the closest the world have come to the nuclear war. A faltering economy played a significant role in his removal from power.His attempts to raised farm production failed and the rate of industrial growth slowed. Rivals such as Leonid Brezhnev also played an important role.
