What kind of video do you most enjoy on a Mahalo page about a topic? Informative? Sexy yet relevant? Action filled? (Hoping for discussion)
I've created a Mahalo page on Krav Maga and am working on another one for Belly Dance. I'd like to find out what types of videos are most appealing to you.
For example, on the Krav Maga page the "featured video" and first video in the video section is an explanation and very brief demo of Krav Maga. It's informative, but not very exciting or sexy. The second video shows an attractive young woman fresh out of the shower rubbing lotion into her legs, applying makeup and then going out for a night on the town and using Krav Maga on a would be mugger. Her dressing scenes are intermixed with real training scenes, but it is still more sexy than informative. The next several videos show how-to animations for performing various moves, and then those are followed by more action packed video montages of bad guys getting beat up.
The Belly Dance "featured video" shows a demo of an attractive, extremely skilled and famous dancer performing a typical cabaret stage routine. I could have instead featured a less famed yet reasonably good dancer with large breasts and a more revealing costume. I was seeking to show a GREAT example of the typical art rather than the sexiest passable example I could find. The rest of the Belly Dance video section consists mostly of famous skilled dancers, some voluptuous and some not.
What do you think is best when balancing the need for a video to be informative, attractive and exciting?
As a Mahalo visitor looking for an overview of a particular subject, would you rather view somewhat "dry" videos with great information, or would you prefer sexy or exciting at the cost of not getting quite as much information?
What is more likely to get you to forward the link to a friend and tempt you to stay longer and view more of the content? Why?

I'd much rather have a "dry" video that's very informative than a sexy video.
The sexy videos seem too much like they're trying to sell me something, like I'm watching a cheesy infomercial that could turn to porno at any moment. And sadly, they DON'T turn to porno! Even worse. They're all the bad parts of porn without any of the good.
No, when I turn to Mahalo for help in learning, I really want to see clear, careful demonstrations of how it is being performed/created/etc. As a matter of fact, the dryer the better. I don't really care to sit through intro music, star wipes, or any other cheesy effects. Just point the camera, make sure the sound quality is decent, and show me step-by-step what to do.
Simple is better!
In the case of Krav Maga I would like to see some excellent action scenes at the end to see the full routine in action, but only if I also get to see it broken down easily and simply at some other point in the video.
Good question though. Gave me a lot to think about!

Thank you so much, @ewpldf! That's awfully kind of you and I feel very honored!
Thanks for the thoughtful answer and the specific comments on the Krav Maga page. I'm nominating this one for the Answer of the Day Contest for October 9th.
