Hello mmng23,

Ginger root otherwise known simply as Ginger is used in many cuisines throughout the world. For example it is often used in making Ginger tea one recipe for which can be seen here http://www.grouprecipes.com/75897/ginger-root-tea.html . In cases where fresh Ginger is not available dry or powdered forms are often used. Ginger root is also used a lot in Chinese cooking and one of the important dishes that feature it includes stir fried chicken.

In various cuisines fresh ginger root is used as a spice and is grated or mashed into pulp and added to food. In such food it adds flavor and aids digestion but does not constitute the most important part in the dish. However, there are many recipes in which Ginger root provides the central taste. Some of the most popular recipes that feature Ginger root prominently include ginger cookies, salmon in an orange-ginger glaze, pickled ginger, citrus ginger scallops and candied ginger. Recipes for some of these can be got here.
