What kind of math would you use to be an architect?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think geometry and trigonometry will definitely help you in your study of architecture.

I think you would incorporate the use of algebra, geometry and trigonometry in being an architect. Algebra is used in both geometry and trignometry as it is the basis for higher math. When thinking about designing a room and the angles between the floor and the ceiling and the structures in the room or the angles of the roof, that is all geometry. Trigonometry is involved too if you want to figure out the angles and distances between objects that are on an incline or you need to figure out how best to maximize the space in a room. Physics is also involved because you have to make sure a structure is build sturdy enough to handle forces in all directions. These forces are calculated using calculus sometimes as well. I know people that studied architecture in college and had to take calculus and a few engineering courses as well.
