What kind of job would be great for a geek to get free travel?

I'd like to travel to different countries/cities but not as eg. a flight attendent. Ideally, I'd like to get paid to travel. I'm good with computers: Sysadmin, some programming, Website design/adminning, etc. What'd be a good job? Sysadmin on a Cruise Liner?
Tip for best answer: M$3.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

IT in an airline company. A friend works for American Airlines and flies all over the world for nearly free. He travels just about every weekend, just for the fun of it!

Sysadmin on a Cruise Liner? Wow, have you tried them?? I think that's a great idea :) Lots of cruise companies to send your resume to.....

I had a friend who juggled his way around the Pacific - mind you he had to learn how to breathe fire but hey it was worth it.

What about teaching? There are plenty of companies hiring teaches in other countries, it might be worth asking them if they teach computer sciences?? There are way too many to list and I think in that case it would depend on which countries you are looking at

OK, might not be a highly paid job like a cruise ship ( I'm going with that one OK, I think its worth a shot! ) hehehe

Last idea is for a charity or aid organization. OK, this could be tricky and you may end up covered in mosquitoes untangling cables from the banana tree but again, it's worth looking in to. And again, the company or organization would depend on where you were looking at traveling to....

good luck - try the cruise ships!

Railroad Companies, Airlines, etc.. Also use alot of computers if you like train travel... But you can always travel and offer your services for a cheaper price than whats it worth.. And charge it by a credit card that you can earn points on towards free travel... airline miles, or amtraks points.. Is another idea.. or even visit places with free WiFi centers and ask if you can leave an ad for your services.. and travel back offering to to help people with minor computer issues at these computer centers.. Is also a thought.. I am sure cruise lines have internet centers these days.. So I agree with the other persons recommendation to submit your resume around..

I have a friend who gets paid to teach english overseas. Everything is free. I think the only time he pays out of pocket is when he decides to come back to the states for awhile, he has to pay for that ticket. They pay his housing and food. He's been doing it now for about 4 years now.
