There are a variety of glazes that you can use. Brown sugar glazes are very popular. Here is a recipe:
Brown sugar: packed 1/4 cup
Cider vinegar: 1/4 cup
Dijon mustard: 1 tbs Dijon mustard
Strong coffee: 1 cup
Some people omit the coffee and substitute honey for the liquid. But mix all of the ingredients and apply to the ham during the last 30 minutes of cooking. You may also want to add crushed pineapple to the mix - this was common in my family.
Here is another recipe that you may want to consider. I tasted a ham treated this way once and it was very deliciious!
Rub 1/2 cup of brown sugar into the ham.
Put 2 cups of coke in the bottom of the pan
Cook the ham and towards the last 30 minutes, baste at least twice with a mixture of 1/2 cup bourbon or American whiskey mixed with 2 cups of Coke.
