What kind of environment is suitable for a border terrier?
My neighbor is in love with the border terrier dog breed. His wife’s friend has a border terrier that just had some puppies. They plan to adopt one of the puppies but are afraid that the dog might not be comfortable in their apartment because all his friends with the same breed live in big houses. Do border terriers live in any kind of house?

Border Terrier are contented to live in a small household or apartment. Just be sure that they will receive sufficient exercise because they were bred for hunting purposes and they have lots of stamina and energy. They are moderately inactive indoors and will do fine with a small yard.
The wiry coat of the Border Terrier will need brushing on a weekly basis. They should also be given a professional grooming twice a year. And they should only be bathed as needed.
Their coat needs to be plucked instead of cutting with scissors. This can be done with pulling the hair out by hand but this is not painful for them but care should be taken when plucking around the head and muzzle. These areas shouldn't need too much plucking.
Border Terrier generally get along well with other dogs if they are properly socialized when they are young. They like to please their owners but they are very independent dogs too. Their love of people makes them great therapy dogs and the also love to be praised. They are also agile jumpers and love to learn new tricks.
Border Terriers love children and they also bark less than other terriers.
