What kind of entrance essays does Dartmouth require along with an admittance application?

How many entrance essays does Dartmouth require you to turn in with your application? Do they have set essay questions that they want everyone to answer, such as; "Why do you want to attend Dartmouth"? Do they also require more personal and program focused essays? Is it better to write serious composed essays or is it better to add some humor and show your personality?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Dartmouth College does not have set essay questions that they want everyone to answer, such as; "Why do you want to attend Dartmouth". They require more personal and program focused essays.

According to a post I read about the college is it better to write serious composed essays and leave out the humor.
The post stated that the dean of admissions and the assistant director said that applicants should not be metaphorical, but direct. He said this is because they read 8 hours a day. And do not want to spend time trying to figure the person’s essays out.

Dartmouth College only asks for Personal Statement essay on any of the topics, you can even select a topic of your choice on the Common Application.
This is an excerpt from a blog that can help you with your Dartmouth essay

---quote—

• Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.
• Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence.
• Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.
• A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.
• Topic of your choice.
