What kind of dog do I have!?

I have asked the vet and all they could tell me is it look like she has part Chihuahua in her. I am just curious cause its been almost two years. I got her in 2007 Christmas and still have no idea what she is. (she is on the right in the picture the bulldog is my sisters)

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

She is so cute! She actually does like she could be part Chihuahua, but because of her size, it looks like she also may be part labrador retriever or golden retriever. Her facial features and pretty gold colors may indicate that she is part lab. I'm wondering if your vet took into consideration her behavior characteristics too. Retrievers are very smart, gentle and great with kids and other dogs. They also have a lot of energy, as the Chihuahua.

I just read in the local paper that some vets or companies are offering doggy DNA tests. They take a small saliva sample, I think, and analyze it to determine what their heritage is. Many dog owners are curious to find out their dog's breed when they are of a mixed breed. Good luck - she's adorable!

I agree, it is difficult to say. The photo is very small. If I just made a wild guess from the size and physical features that I can make out from the photo, I would have to guess perhaps a chihuahua and pug mix. I'd love to see a larger picture with more detail. I think then I may be able to give you a stronger opinion.

If you want to know badly enough to pay you can have your pooch's DNA tested. This will tell you exactly which breed or breeds your dog is. This is the only way to know for certain.

It is difficult to judge the breed of a dog simply from a picture. Genetic testing is available from many veterinarians, and home versions are available, albeit with less reliable results. The Wisdom Panel, from Mars Veterinary, is one of the most respected tests of this type.

It is hard to say with that picture. If you provided a better picture then perhaps someone could identify what type of dog it is.
