Zicam is a homeopathic medicine, made with a zinc compound, which reduces the length and severity of a cold. It does work, but only if you don’t drink or eat anything containing vitamin C while you’re also using Zicam. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) binds with the zinc, making it useless. Zicam can’t stop you from getting a cold. Zicam is not a prescription drug. Zicam could be considered to be a part of holistic medicine as it is a homeopathic drug.
