When I read your question, my immediate answer was "To learn"... and, sure enough, this is what Rick Warren says... Great minds think alike...

My purpose in life would be to become happy. I know it's so simple but I have realized that happiness is priceless and it cannot be achieved right away.

1) Acheive personal satisfication.
I want to be able to wake up randomly in the morning and think.. I'm Content. =)

People that can do that always claim they have had a good life when they are on their death bed.

2) To learn a lot of useless information that is meaningless, yet fun to know.

3) To Understand the female mind, and secreatly spread the secret to all my fellow men out there. That way we come out of the disadvantage we have been in since... . . . well since marriage was invented.

“Only barbarians are not curious about where they come from, how they came to be where they are, where they appear to be going, whether they wish to go there, and if so, why, and if not, why not.” So said Isaiah Berlin. Whether it’s made in Japan, made in China, or made in Kenya, the fact is that we are surrounded by things humans have made with their own hands. The intelligent would ask: Why did man make those things? To the uncomprehending fools, the answer is “pass/ I don’t know” while the smart one will say man made things to perform some specific function for us. By illustration he/she will mention that we make houses to serve as a shelter, cup to serve us tea, blow drier for glorifying our hair. Others make weird-looking gadgets to serve them emotionally and otherwise. If we make things to serve us, the brilliant will know that God made us to SERVE/WORSHIP HIM. Even Satan was reminded by Jesus about the purpose of life: “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND HIM ONLY YOU SHALL SERVE.”4:10.

Ancient scriptures like the Qur’an say “We God did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for a (mere) play.” 21:16 Elsewhere the Qur’an says that God “. . . did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them without purpose!” 38:27 So if the Universe was not created in vain, with maximum speed and minimal delay an inquisitive mind will demand to know the purpose of creation. “I did not create the jinn and mankind” God says in Qur’an 51:56 “except to worship Me.” For a comprehensive answer for the reason of God’s creation see http://extremelysmart.wordpress.com/2009/09/16/10/

Oh, I should have mentioned that the purpose of life is not just to worship God but to worship ONE God. Because God had clearly said: “I am the Lord, and there is no other” 45:18 for that reason “. . . you shall worship no other god. . .” 34:14. You should recall that Jesus once talked to a woman saying, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when you will worship THE FATHER. . . .” 4:21 and he did not include the Son and the Holy Spirit. In John 4:23 Jesus said “. . .the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him.” Sincerely speaking, these verses show that true worship must only be directed to what they call the Father and neither the Son nor the Holy Spirit.
