I love Maple Syrup. In my family, we rarely have pancakes or other food that takes syrup for breakfast. Since we don't have time to make it, we get it for dinner sometimes. For the past few years, my brother and I have been going to Cracker Barrel to meet a cousin. It's become a yearly tradition. I don't know if you've been to one before, but they give you syrup in little bottles(see picture below) for your pancakes. I usually order Mama's Pancake Breakfast which I enjoy the syrup on. However, one time we discovered that it would be fun to drink the syrup. I don't drink the entire bottle, but the few sips I take are very delicious. I remember last year when the waiter came to our table and asked, "What do you want to drink?" After going around the table saying water, when it was my turn, I said "Syrup". The funny thing was that she actually brought some out with the waters for us. They have really good syrup at the restaurant whether I choose to enjoy it on a pancake, or drink it.

A little maple syrup on richly buttered Swedish pancakes with just right amount of lingonberries is beyond beleif. The true flavor of the sryup draws out the tartness of the lingonberries and WHAM, your taste buds have died and gone to heaven.

Hi, @buddawiggi! It's the porridge, you know! :)

We've just found out that we have an Iceland supermarket here in Spain and they stock real Scott's Porridge Oats and even Golden Syrup. But, I really like to put Maple Syrup over the porridge which I make from my own goats milk and not really stodgy. The Maple Syrup converts this porridge not only into a delicious breakfast, but I can enjoy it as a special sweet anytime of the day.

I've also made little healthy snack bars mixing porridge oats with a bit of milk and water and butter and a pinch of salt. One can make a sort of dough of it and either add Maple Syrup into the dough or coat the ready baked snackbars in Maple Syrup and let them dry. Out of this world! :)

Enjoy!

We can't get maple syrup here, in Croatia. Or Golden syrup. I just use brown sugar on my porridge!:))

This one has surely got to get your taste buds going. MAPLE BREAD PUDDING!!!!

3/4 cup maple syrup
1 tsp. lemon juice
3 slices bread, without crusts
2 eggs
2 cups milk
1 Tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup nuts or raisins
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Pour maple syrup in top of double boiler. Butter each slice of bread and cube. Add to syrup. Add nuts or raisins and lemon juice. Beat together eggs, milk, salt and vanilla and pour over bread mixture. Do not stir. Set over gently boiling water. Cook 1 hour. This makes its own sauce. Spoon it over each serving.

I am a big fan of IHOP, but I don't always like to go out to enjoy the same kind of flavor. I prefer real maple syrup instead of adulterated, sugary grocery store varieties. I also like to try and copy IHOP recipes at home. Two of my favorites are seasonal menu items that they offer: the pumpkin pancakes and the stuffed French toast. I make both of these at home all year long.

Pumpkin pancakes are very simple. All you have to do is put half a cup of canned pumpkin in the pancake batter. Of course, real pumpkin is better, when you can get it. Stuffed French toast is a little more intermediate, but it is worth the time and effort on a Saturday morning when there is no rush to be anywhere. To make it, combine 4 ounces of fat-free cream cheese or neufchatel with 1/2 cup of sugar. Beat two eggs in a separate bowl. Pour the eggs in a slightly heated skillet. Then, take two pieces of Texas toast and grill it in the beaten eggs.

Once your toast is completely done, put the cream cheese mixture in between two pieces. You can top with maple syrup or use real fruit and powdered sugar. Stuffed French toast is calorie-laden and super sweet, but it also makes a great reward for a long week!

Truthfully, I don't really like Maple Syrup. I don't know why, but it makes me feel sick. I don't mind it much on pancakes but I usually try to steer clear of it altogether. A bit ago though, I bought a box of varied oatmeal flavours. There was Apple Cinnamon, Natural, and Maple Syrup, and I actually turned out really liking the Maple Syrup one, even though the taste was still quite strong! I now enjoy a bowl of maple syrup oatmeal almost every day :)

Like so many I really like Maple Syrup on pancakes especially with butter as well. I must admit though that I don't like Maple flavored ham in fact I find it rather revolting in flavor. Maybe that just me but I don't think meat should have a sweet flavor. I also like Maple candy such as fudge, for me Maple Syrup just works better with sweet things such as cookies and candy, as oppose to savory food such as Meat.

Love it on pancakes, naturally, but it's also delicious on cornbread. I like to make plenty of cornbread so there's some left over, then warm it up with a little butter and lots of syrup for breakfast the next day, or a snack.

Told this to a chef in Canada. He was very impressed.

One large or two small hot yorkshire puddings.
Add Two or three scoops of vanilla icecream.
Drizzle maple syrup over the top. (not too sparingly)
You've got the best sweet in town.
