I'd have to say folk/acoustic. Nickel Creek is, perhaps, my favorite band. they were astounding live. Newcomer Fleet Foxes are really good, too. The Avett Brothers are, perhaps, the most hard rocking acoustic group around.
Also, I just saw The Unwigged & Unplugged Tour with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer (aka Spinal Tap; aka The Folksmen). They played songs from Spinal Tap, The Folksmen and other all on acoustic instruments. It was great!
