What is your favorite movie and why?

Not counting the sitcoms and series.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'm hooked on submarine movies (which I've been told is because they're about a bunch of sea men in a tube, but I object), my favorite of which is "Hunt for Red October." Love the plot, the acting ... and, yeah, two of the main actors. First, it was Sean Connery. First three times I watched it, that is. Then I jumped ship and transferred my crush to Sam Neill and watched it another time or two (okay, three). I read the book after seeing the movie a few times and really liked that too.

Seriously, though, I wrote about why I like submarine movies in a webpage I have about that very subject. To quote myself, I said, "I like stories set within small spaces, that really focus on the characters. That isn't to say plot doesn't play a huge part, but many films I've seen that center around a submarine crew seem to be more heavily weighted on dialog and the interaction of characters in close quarters than other types of action films. And I find sub films to be more suspenseful than most. It's a world completely foreign to me--being miles beneath the surface of the ocean. And other than the sub going up, and doing it the right way, there's really no way out of that big metal tube. That adds to the suspense of these films. Those men (are there women on submarines these days?) are stuck down there, together, and there's no opening the hatch and slamming it behind them to get away from each other."

My favorite movie is "Beautiful Mind" starring Russel Crowe. There are several reasons why i like this movie a lot. First of ll , due to its great direction. It has been directed in a spectacular way, from every point of view, whether it is the location or camera angles, everything is perfect. And secondly, the motivation and inspiration that it gives me.. The movie is about a man, who suffered from schizophrenia, a mental disorder and then how he went on to win the noble prize . This movie is all about one man's journey through the hardships and the hurdles, he went through. But he fought and proved it that nothing is impossible in this world for people with strong conviction. This movie even won Oscar. The movie is based on a true story that is above all more than inspiration to make it more close to reality.
