You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The only mob movie that can even stand toe-to-toe with The Godfather. It was gritty and disturbing, but enthralling. Plot and superb writing alone make this an amazing and rewatchable movie, but the cast is what skyrockets this movie into its status as one of the greatest movies ever made.
Ray Liotta is eerily focused, aggressive, and even a little sexy. Lorraine Bracco is sassy, scared, and right on target as the wife of Henry Hill. Round out the cast with Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Paul Sorvino, and others to make this a powerhouse film!
Plus don't forget the amazing quotability of this movie:
TOMMY: "I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh..."
HENRY: "One day some of the kids from the neighborhood carried my mother's groceries all the way home. You know why? It was outta respect."
...and I'd list more, but I have to keep this PG-13, and those were the only lines in the movie without an F-bomb planted in them. You know, I once cut school to stay home and watch this movie? I actually got out a pad of paper and tallied the number of times they said F*** in this movie. It was surprising, and I'm no prude. Good times.

This is one of those movies you just have a hard time tearing your eyes away from. Engrossing, fun, and disturbing. I love it! Martin Scorsese at his best, by far!

M$I'm not sure what I can tell you that is reasonably concise, not spoilery and captures what is so great about the film. It's entertaining and deep, funny and dramatic, has a fantastic plot, but is about far more than a good plot.
It takes genres that you thought you knew, and turns them inside out. Is it one of those movies about the goofy talented kid, who's taken under the wing of the wise old pro, and makes it to the top? It goes that way enough that you might start thinking so, but this is no Karate Kid or Star Wars, and you're in for something far more surprising, powerful and truthful.
What else to say? An Oscar-winning performance by Paul Newman, a great performance by the young Tom Cruise, and an Oscar nominated screenplay with brilliant dialogue. I love the score too.
A small sample... as non-spoilery a clip as I could find while giving a good sense of the film...

M$LOL, I have actually not seen this movie. I just love how the title is still being used as a pickup line. ;) The movie came out the year I was born!

M$I wonder how much better it would've been if the original concept of casting Meryl Streep in the 1970s had worked out.
Good film, but it lost major points for me by casting Cameron Diaz, who I consider to be one of the most untalented actresses in Hollywood (even if she does look good in bra and panties).
I remember everyone complaining about the opening fight scene at Five Points. That there was too much blood and violence.
Pshaw!
As a historical film... it's one of my favorites too.
One of the best romantic comedies of all time.

M$> Who among us has not felt the same as Travis Bickle?
What is it with you and scary guys with guns? :)
*flees and hides*
@buddawiggi - I can't really agree with you on the "romantic comedy" part, but "touching love story" yes!
@buddawiggi - a man after my own heart!
I loved how Mr. Scorsese danced on the thin line of censorship and realism in this film.

There is an entire scene from The Wire in which pretty much the whole dialogue consists of the F-word said repeatedly in different tones as two detectives investigate a murder scene.

That King Missile video was trippy. Where do you find these things? ;)
If you've ever heard the song by King Missile above (without being censored) I'm sure they have enough f-bombs in it for an encore to Goodfellas!
