What is your favorite lens and why?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I prefer the 24mm f2.8 myself. It allows me to get close to my subject and get most of their body in the shot. But it is not so wide that it distorts them in a bad way. It is also fast enough to allow me use it indoors without a flash. If you are doing portrait photography, I would recommend a 24mm lens. They aren't that expensive either.

My favorite is my Tamron 17-50mm F2.8.

Fast, versatile, very good quality, and the price was right, too. I've used other lenses I liked more, but don't own them, and they tend to cost more than double the price.

50mm 1.2 nikkor, sharpest, fastest, cleanest and least distorted lens in the world. Small and cheap too.

My favorite lens is the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. It takes extremely sharp photos and because it isn't a name brand like Canon or Nikon it is much cheaper than it's counterparts. There are also Canon and Nikon mounts. The 28-75mm range is perfect for general shooting which is why this lens is my walk-around lens. You can see some sample shots and other reviews about my other lenses on my blog -> http://www.russellheimlich.com/blog/bitten-by-the-lens-bug/

I prefer Nikkor 18-200mm. I rarely have to change lens, therefore it keeps the dust out of my camera body and not to mention I can ditch most of my lens. I like to think of 18-200mm as an all in one lens almost.
