What is your favorite Latin phrase?

This Latin "scholar" wants to know! Whether you know any Latin or not, I would like to know. Also - what do you think it means? :P
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

This is hard - there are so many - serious and funny

I'll go with

amare et sapere vix deo conceditur - Even a god finds it hard to love and be wise at the same time

This saying captures how love can over ride the mind and senses...

But for some serious try - http://latin-phrases.co.uk/

And funny try - http://web.mit.edu/afs/athena.mit.edu/user/d/r/dryfoo/www/Funny-pages/handy-latin.html

Stercus cani est in tuae caligae.

Took a few minutes for the girl behind me to try and translate. She blushed and hit me with her dictionary.

I thought that was very funny. Reminds me of the Latin my mates and I would write to each other during class. :P

Silence was a very powerful movie, and this one of the strongest scenes in it. I think it was a neat use of "Quid pro quo."

The "Nowhere Man" in Yellow Submarine presents my favorite use of "Quid pro quo" in a movie. :P

Here is an interesting Latin phrase which i read and brought to you
----quote----

“errare humanum est, perseverare autem diabolicum.”

Literally translated this ancient proverb means, “to err is human, to persevere erring however is of the devil.” At first one might think this proverb originated with the Latin Fathers, but it did not. This quotation comes from Seneca the Younger.

---end quote----

Cogito sumere camum alterum ... I think I'll have another beer.

(Latin had different words for different styles of beer. Camum was a barley beer so probably closer to modern beers than the others.)
