There are so many. I love scary movies and being scared on Halloween. Here are some of my favorites

Silver Bullet - It's about werewolves and it's and older movie. This movie has several scenes where the werewolf comes out of nowhere and is sure to make you jump up out of your seat.

The Shining – This movie was just incredibly creepy. Redrum anyone?

Night of the Living Dead – Really creepy and Zombies are really popular again.

Halloween – These were all scary and have several jump out of your seat moments. The only one I didn't like was the one about masks.

The Exorcist – This will scare everyone.

Amityville Horror – It's based on a true story making it even more scary.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – The original one from 1974.

The Hitcher – French fry finger anyone?

Child's Play – The doll is incredibly chilling.

Session 9 – This movie is weird, but quite scary.

Hide and Seek – A great twist at the end.

Prom Night – Both the original and remake were incredibly suspenseful.

Christina's House – He was in the house the entire time!

When a Stranger Calls – The original one.

30 Days of Night – Makes me afraid to visit Alaska.

The People Under the Stairs – Very strange and Creepy.

Wrong Turn – Very suspenseful.

Ghost Ship – Good movie, great ending.

Black Christmas – This movie really scared me.

The Hills Have Eyes 1 and 2 – Very scary, but quite gory as well.

Hostel – Another very gory, but suspenseful movie.

Untraceable – I view this is more suspenseful than scary, but well worth it to watch.

I could go on and on, but these are all really excellent scary movies. Great for a weekend night at home (perhaps not alone) or a Halloween party.

Hocus Pocus.. The song that they use to lure the children, "Come little children" I just adore, and the story itself is entertaining for all ages.

There was a weird, obscure movie that never even hit the theaters, but they aired it on TV three years in a row, right before Halloween. It was called The Hollow.

Starring Kevin Zegers who played Ian Cranston, the great-great grandson of Ichabod Crane, who moved to Sleepy Hollow. The theoretic curse that followed Ichabod Crane's family awakened the headless horseman. Slaughter followed.

Judge Reinhold, Stacy Keach, Kaley Cuoco, and the Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter and were also in it.

It's one of those movies you love to hate. It really stinks, but has its moments.

I have always loved the Howling movies, and of coarse, the Nightmare on elm street movies.

It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Not only is it sweet, but it's very sentimental. I would watch this every year (before VHS and DVD) with my family.

The movies that I love/fear for Halloween viewing are those that make me watch through my fingers and check behind curtains once the movie is over. I don't like the bucket of blood kind of movies because they're just gross not scary.

Number 1 for me is the truly classic "Psycho". It's one of those movies that are scary because darn it, it could happen.

Scared me as a kid and I still can't watch it now is "The Blob". No eating Jello for me! And worse than "Jaws", "The Flesh Eaters". No great cinema but will make you wonder what's in the water before you dare put a toe in.

For a guilty pleasure, "Fright Night" will always reign supreme. I went to the local theater so many times, I think everyone knew me by sight!

To put it simply, the classic Halloween movies always do it for me. There is nothing like seeing Michael Myres slash up Jamie Lee Curtis along with many other typical jocks and preps from the 1970's. It's a great horror movie and probably was one of the best, and most original of all time.

Though it sounds cliche, Halloween is by far the best Halloween movie. John Carpenter expertly built tension throughout the film, using great shots of Michael Meyers appearing out of the darkness. My favorite moment is just after Laurie has thwarted his attack from within the closet and is leaving the room. She pauses in the doorway and Michael sits up. In that almost automated way he has of moving, he turns to look at her from behind. Only the most jaded movie goer doesn't want to cry out a warning to her to run! The photography, the music and the story all blend to make this the ultimate Halloween movie.
