What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character? Please explain why and give the book title.

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

OK, this is so easy and so fun. It's NOT the Grinch, It's not even Horton the Elephant (he's second). Without a doubt, the run away winner of the competition is Yertle, the Turtle. Leaders like Hitler who practiced Fascism could only stand on the backs of the people so long before their kingdom collapses and leaves them King of Nothing.

Don't forget to listen to the super-cool Chili Peppers version of the story given below.

I like the Grinch in How The Grinch Stole Christmas. I like the transformation from being the horrible monster at the beginning who wants to do away with Christmas to having a heart at the end and returning everything he stole.

Horton of Horton Hears a Who. Why? Because when others questioned his reality Horton never caved in but clung to what he knew to be real.

Sorry, no pic of Horton and no embedded video because it was disabled on YouTube --- but I do have the trailer, anothr scene from the movie and ...The Who synched to Horton Hears THE Who. How absolutely fabulous is that?!!!

The Onceler in The Lorax...

Many years ago as a Brownie leader I chose this book to read to my troop while at summer camp.

Geisel gave many great messages, but the way the environmental message was presented in The Lorax was priceless.

Grinch has my vote as well. I like the bad guy turned good aspect of the character. Never was a huge Dr. Seuss fan but the Grinch was by far his best work.

The Birthday Honk Honker in "Happy Birthday to You!"

http://www.drseussart.com/images/book/happybirth_lg.gif

I love this character because he symbolizes a celebration of life and the tremendous importance of every single person as he zips around, creating the grandest birthday party possible. As a child, I found tremendous comfort in both the story and the character--kind of like a child's faith in the tooth fairy or Santa, I desperately believed that the Birthday Honk Honker would pop up one day to celebrate my birthday and make me feel special.
