My favorite Christmas song is All I Want For Christmas Is You by Vince Vance and the Valiants. This is not the Mariah Carey song, though it is a common misconception. It makes you remember that Christmas really is just a simple time of year where hope and love reign supreme instead of Black Friday shopping and after Christmas credit card bills.

All I want for Christmas is You....by Mariah Carey.

I know its not a classic---but its catchy and I love singing along to it!!!

I also love the version from the movie Love Actually...with the little girl singing it and the boy who learned to play the drums, just for her, because He was so in love with her!!!! adorable!!!!

"All I want for Christmas is you", by Mariah Carey is also my favourite Christmas song. Everytime I listen it, she reminds me the first Christmas spent with my girlfriend. Those are really the most beautiful moments! :)

While I like all of the other songs mentioned, I tend to lean toward the classics. There's something about hearing a group of young children sing 'Silent Night' or 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' that sets my heart in tune with the season. But my favorite would be Bing Crosby's "I'll Be Home For Christmas." For so many people this year and many years past this song has been one of hope & expectation. Nothing else really speaks to the great importance of feeling at home OR being at home during the holidays the way this classic does.

My fave Christmas song is a song written and sung by Dan Fogelberg:

For some strange but romantic reasons, I've always thought that i will meet one of my ex-girlfriend in the grocery store on Christmas eve and the snow will turn into rain that day...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NmdFgFyhnk&feature=related

Lyrics of the song
"Same Old Lang Syne" by Dan Fogelberg

Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve

She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried.

We took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totalled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
As the conversation dragged.

We went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldn't find an open bar
We bought a six-pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how.

She said she'd married her an architect
Who kept her warm and safe and dry
She would have liked to say she loved the man
But she didn't like to lie.

I said the years had been a friend to her
And that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I saw
Doubt or gratitude.

She said she saw me in the record stores
And that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
But the traveling was hell.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to time
Reliving in our eloquence
Another 'auld lang syne'...

The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
And I watched her drive away.

Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
The snow turned into rain

I love O Holy Night. It's a Christian classic, and it represents what Christmas is really about..celebrating the birthday of Christ! There are different versions by different singers, and I'm not really sure if one is any better than another. A close second favorite is a new version of The Little Drummer Boy (not sure who sings it).
Take care!

OK, I'm Jewish and tired of the wall-to-wall Christmas music on the radio.

But I'll never be tired of Tony Bennett. It's got to be this version. I love jazz trios or quartets.

I'll be Home for Christmas

It appears to be off his 2007 Christmas album, maybe from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

How could you NOT dig this song?

Honorable Mention: Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland.
