What is your experience using Ning?

It's an interesting idea. I was able to build a restaurant reviews web application with Google maps embedded in probably 5-10 minutes. The ability to mix and match these components without having to program is great, not everyone is a programmer.

My application is at http://nomoreramen.ning.com/ , it was designed so my friends could post reviews of affordable lunch choices around the DC Metro area.

Ning is for those who want to make a niche online community or social network. It might be less expensive to make a community with Ning, but it's not always a better platform than any other kind of social network. I've only joined a few Ning communities, and some of them are good, and others are not so good. It all depends.
