What is your best cold remedy?

Please avoid any discussion of airborne, nyquil, vitamin c, mucinex, and any other maskers/preventatives.
Tip for best answer: M$0.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Rest and fluids.

Seriously, there is no cold remedy I have ever seen or experienced that does anything but temporarily relieve some symptoms poorly.

You're better off cutting back on your commitments, getting plenty of rest, and drinking fluids. Plus you'll save money on worthless remedies.

I have also never seen evidence of any cold remedy other than zinc, and that has only shown a reduction of 2 days in cold duration.

As soon as I get the symptoms, I go to the nearest drugstore and purchase the cheapest remedy advertised to reduce the length of the cold -- most all of these (zicam-type medicines) work pretty well.

While taking these consistently (once every 4 hours except while sleeping), I continue attending work; I figure that if I must suffer, then I may as well spread the joy to my colleagues, as I know that they feel the same way :)

Of course, there is no cold remedy, but I've taken a huge amount of Vitamin C (via pills and orange juice).
That seems to help cut the cold time down a lot for me.

Of course, taking Vitamin C everyday before you get a cold can help deter your from getting it in the first place.
