What is truffles?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It is said that if you put a truffle in your fridge all your products inside the fridge will smell like mushrooms in 24 hours.

In big restaurants from Europe "chiefs" can add a mushrooms flavor to any food if they only use one slide from the mushroom. They are used mainly in Italy.
As said they are very hard to get. In Europe you can sell 1KG for 800 EUROS. But that depends because there are many sub-species( black, brown, white, etc...).
Regarding your second question...I can't answer that, but my answer is based on my experience. Nothing from Google here...:)
Hope this helps!

M$-quote-
"A truffle is a fungal fruiting body that develops underground and relies on mycophagy for spore dispersal. Almost all truffles are ectomycorrhizal and are therefore usually found in close association with trees."
