Decide to smile. Decide to do kind things for other people. Decide to speak with compassion and empathy. Decide to experience every moment and not ignore the present with thoughts of difficulty or hardships you've had in the past. Dwell in the now, and choose happiness for the now.
Watch little children. They choose to have a temper, and choose like flipping a switch to be happy again. We can flip that internal switch, too, we just have to look for it once again.

M$I think there is no such thing like 'true happiness,' because I don't perceive an entity like a 'false happiness.' It is possible to perceive true happiness provided there is the existence of false happiness. There can be happiness though. Whatever makes you feel good and on top without disturbing and hurting others is happiness according to me. Happiness is contagious. It spreads. So, be happy!
Hope, this helps your query.

M$True happiness might be a good cheeseburger, fries, and a real chocolate malt. (not a shake!)
