Staten Island is one of the five boroughs that belong to New York City. Although it has the smallest population of people at a little less than half a million, it is the third largest of the boroughs in area size. At one time, Staten Island was home to the worlds largest landfill. It was permanently closed shortly after the 911 attacks. It is currently being made into a park.
There are plenty of places to have fun while visiting Staten Island. The Staten Island Zoo is a great place to start. It is open 7 days a week and admission is only $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for kids. Members and kids under 2 are free. There are several golf courses and museums if you enjoy that kind of thing.
If you like amusement parks, try Safari Amusement Park. It offers mini golf, go carts, a few rides, animal statues and and batting cages. They also have a pizza place if you get hungry.
