Austin is the State Capitol of Texas and is one of the most beautiful cities in the state. While most Texas cities are look brand spanking new, Austin has a great mix of new and old architecture giving the city a unique look for a Texas City. Austin has major attractions for families as well as a vibrant nightlife.
The State Capitol of Texas originally designed in 1881 by architect Elijah E. Myers, and was constructed from 1882–88 under the direction of civil engineer Reuben Lindsay Walker. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in the United Sates and open for public tours. There are many other great attractions in Austin like The Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Sanctuary and the Zilker Botanical Garden. Austin also has a variety of Museums including a Children’s Museum.
Austin has a vibrant nightlife scene and 2nd avenue is famous for bars, nightclubs and restaurants. Austin is famous for blues and country music as well as rock and roll. The show “Austin City Limits” helped to establish the scene along with the world famous Antone's Nightclub. The club was founded by bluesman Clifford Antone, and has featured B.B. King, Fats Domino and Muddy Waters just to name a few.
