Turned out the movie was about one thing only Mars Attacks!!! yes - that is all. no plot or character development of any kind. Mars simply Attacks.
So I hated it when I first saw it. I thought it was terrible. I had hoped for so much more.
but then I realized that Mars Attacks ! Yes that's it. Mars ATTACKS!!!
What more remains to be said...

The plot, such as it is, is a bit more complicated than that, involving Nazis and subterranean freaks living in sewers, but that's not the point.
It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life. I've watched it over and over, and invited friends over to watch it, and everybody ends up lying around howling and weeping with laughter.
