What is the toughest part of being a parent and how do you deal with it.

Tip for best answer: M$0.35
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The toughest thing I feel is watching them make mistakes that I know could have been avoided. Teaching them to take the knocks life throws their way is hard but necessary. Advice is one thing, but doing is another and even if you want them to listen they will still try something for themselves, its how we all learn I guess.

Watching them make bad decisions about friends and waiting for the fall, watching them learn that people sometimes can't be trusted, and being there for them as someone they can trust.

Seeing them hurt and alone because they are pushing against peer group pressure is tough, but only they can do that. A parent isn't a peer, it has to come from them and they are the ones getting hurt, but growing and learning all the same.

A parent can't hold their hands forever, you have to let go, a little at a time until its mostly gone....and that's the way it goes, hard though it seems....

Its part of being a parent, its not actually 'dealing' with anything, its life!

With 1-2 kids, it's their safety, health, etc.

With 3-4 it's the noise. :D
