You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hello mmng23,

The traditional method used to dry fruit involved sun drying. Currently there are several methods adopted to create dried fruit. Some of these include sun drying, oven drying and electric dehydration. Most dried fruit are subjected to some form of pretreatment such as blanching with citrus juice or boiling water.

When storing dried fruit such as raisins, dates, prunes, apricots, figs and pears airtight containers should be used. Storing dried fruit in good containers stacked in dry spaces can result in long shelf life. In some cases dried fruit can be stored for over a year without refrigeration. A major advantage associated with using dried fruit is that it is nutritious and can be stored even without the aid of a refrigerator.
According to this link http://www.foodreference.com/html/art-dried-fruit.html shelf life of various dried fruit vary but at the minimum most can be stored for a month, while raisins can be stored for longer periods of up to a year.
