What is the Rock Fort Temple?
This two part temple complex comprise of
1.Shiva temple (Thayumanaswamy)
2.Pillayar (Ganesh) temple
The Shiva temple is the biggest one and is carved in the middle of the rock while the Ganesh temple was carved at the top of the rock.
This temple was used as military fortification by the Vijayanagar emperors and later by the British during the Carnatic wars. This temple is 83m tall which was built by the Pallavas and later finished by the Nayaks of Madurai under the Vijayanagara empire.

Yes the Tamil people completed the Rock Fort Temple although the Pallavas started building it first. Nayaks of Madurai were rulers of Tamil India
