What is the reaction of Acids with metals and carbonates?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

reaction of an acid with metals
-------------------------------------------

when an acid reacts with a metal it produces the metal salt and hydrogen gas .

metal +acid ->metalsalt +hydrogen

example:sodium+hydrochloric acid->sodium chloride(common salt)+hydrogen gas.

reaction with carbonate
---------------------------------

when an acid reacts with any carbonate it produces carbon dioxide (CO2), leaving the acid salt of the original carbonate salt.
