Dussehra is one of the most popular festivals celebrated by the Hindus in India. Dussehra is celebrate to mark the victory of good over evil and victory of gods over demons. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ram killed Ravana on the tenth day of their battle and it came to be known as Vijayadashmi or the Victory on the Tenth Day. Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the bright half of Aswin according to Hindu calendar and falls between October and November.

M$Kullu Dussehra the Dussehra festival is observed in the month of October in Himachal Pradesh state in India. It is celebrated in the Dhalpur maidan in the Kullu valley. It begins on ‘Vijaya dashmi’ and continues for seven days. Its history dates back to the 17th century when local King Jagat Singh installed an idol of Raghunath on his throne as a mark of penance. After this, god Raghunath was declared as the ruling deity of the Valley. The State government has accorded the status of International festival to the Kullu Dussehra, which attracts tourists in large numbers.
