What is the procedure to change the brake fluids of a 2002 Volvo S60?

It has been almost eight years since I bought this car. Do I really need to change the brake fluids? If yes then, is there any website/blog which can guide me exact the procedure to change my sedan's brake oil?

I have a 2002 XC70 and I’ve never changed my break oil. I’ve checked for discoloration and its fine. The break oil is hydraulic and does not easily deteriorate, unless it has been contaminated with a foreign matter. If that was the case you would have a serious problem. If you wish you can change the break oil as follows. First, buy two quarts of break oil that is recommended for your car. Completely lift your car from the ground, for safety a car lift is recommended. Once the car is lifted, crack open SLIGHTLY the four bleeder fittings, says 5 drop of oil per minutes. As the master cylinder gets emptied refill until you used up a quart and one half of oil. At this point close your four bleeders. It is absolutely imperative that no air is introduced into the master cylinder. Lower the car and finish filling the master cylinder and place the cover. DO NOT MOVE YOUR CAR at this time. Start your car and pump the breaks until your break peddle becomes hard. Slowly, drives off by pumping the break peddle. After the run, re check the master cylinder, if necessary refill to proper level. More important than break oil is the timing belt and it should be replaced every 70,000 miles or so. Furthermore, if you have over 100,000 miles you should change your transmission oil and filter (original parts only). Never use aftermarket parts unless it’s a quality product. I’ve had over half a dozen Volvo cars in the past 30 years and they always served me well, if maintained properly.
Enjoy your Volvo and remember it’s for life
