The Orange Box
The Metacritic score on this is a nearly unheard of 96 out of 100 based on 34 reviews. This is considered Universal Acclaim.

Half Life 2
Half Life 2 Expansions: Episode 1 and Episode 2
Team Fortress 2
. . . and what may be the surprise hit of the decade - Portal. This was a tech demo and a short game, but people love it. The dark quirky humor, and the deep game play leave people wanting more.
In packaging these together we have a long story driven shooter Half-Life 2, packaged with the fantastic multi-player shooter Team Fortress 2, followed by the totally unique first person action physics puzzle game Portal. It is my opinion that any one of these alone would be a must buy, packaged together it is mind blowing.
So we get five games for one price, a fantastic deal!

Seven?
Actually if you want to include available Half-Life 2 Mods in this active community I count 34 games (29 are Mods).

Here is a nice review that goes over the entire package and one of the only complaints expressed in the video was the lack of Team Fortress 2 maps at launch which has since been expanded.

M$Not even Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or Half-Life 2 can compare. This is my personal choice and opinion.
Reason for my choice
1.This game have 11.5 million subscriptions monthly
2.
----quote----
World of Warcraft is currently the world's most-subscribed MMORPG91415 and holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular MMORPG by subscribers

Information quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_war_craft
3. Blizzard has done what others fail to deliver for what is the most unbelievable MMORPGs
Other great PC games would be
1.Half-Life 2
2.Grand Theft Auto III
3.Resident Evil 4
4.Civilization IV

M$Popularity doesn't mean it's the best game, or even a good game. Several times that many people play FarmVille, which is barely a game at all.
Thank you for you opinion. My answer just like your commment is just our opinions. Nothing more nothing less. But for your knowledge and information World of War Craft is one of the best PC games created for man period and that is a fact not an opinion a fact.
Well, I disagree with you albanian. I have played WOW... and I think the security system from Blizz is a good one. I'm not saying they don't have small problems, but that is not a reason to pass a game like WOW.
Good answer matrix!
That may be so, but you didn't give your reasons, other than its popularity. Personally, I'm not convinced it should even count as a PC game, since it is played on servers somewhere rather than your PC.
I also don't see how you can say on the one hand that it is your opinion and on the other hand that your opinion is a fact. There would have to be some clear testable criteria for it to be a fact.
I have not played World of Warcraft for a number of reasons, but I will mention one of them that I have read about repeatedly in the papers. Like other online massive multiplayer games it is plagued by cheating with people buying items and positions from others with real money. That in itself is enough to spoil a game in my opinion.

This is the best-selling PC game franchise ever.
This is the first game franchise to finally "get" the female gaming customer.

For a gamer who played the entire series, following the whole story, reading all the books, that is the game of the decade.
One way or another, Blizzard changed my life with Warcraft. No other game did that before.

Again, I am not talking about money here, or magazines nominations, just my point of view.

M$It would be impossible to describe them well here; but, the strength of the Elder Scrolls series has always been to create an entire world and allow the player to explore and progress in a nearly completely non-linear fashion. The world of Oblivion is so huge, the choice of approaches to playing so wide, and the graphics and sound executed so well that the game never stales.
The strength of the Total War series has always been the excellent combination of history, tactics, strategy, and color in a huge game bringing to life the old miniatures battle games. Total War: Medieval2 takes advantage of the power of modern pc's to allow the maneuvers of massive numbers of all sorts of troops around the battlefields. In addition to the tactical and strategic challenges, the player can't help but learn a great deal of history and geography while playing. And, since one can play any of a number of nations, the game can be played over and over.
I think Total War: Medieval rates game of the decade, with Oblivion a close runner up.

M$If you based it on popularity.. WoW has it for sure, however on actual quality I'd say Fall out wins it. I loved WoW once.. but I saw it as more a way to chat while killing things.. it's a social and rather mindless click and slash rpg.
Fall Out offers a realistic scenario that very well could happen a deep and amusing story line full of mutants, zombies, cyborgs and norms. The recent fall out 3 is a first person shooter for the DnD fan basically. I love it. The world loves it. I'm afraid I couldn't single out any one game from the series but rather suggest the entire Fall out series for PC was the best game of the decade. (Fall out for other game counsels is actually not the same if you've ever played.)

Regardless of all the effort you made to create a fine answer, I think you're right.
I've played lots of games in the last decade, and The Orange Box was an absolute market breaker with 5 top-tier games in one box.
I've played Bethesda's Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls series, and they were stunning and unbeliavable, but The Orange Box was revolutionary. You get my vote!
Thanks! You are right about Elder Scrolls being magnificent! I went with Orange box just because it was just so mind blowing to have so many great single player games packaged with a spectacular multiplayer game. There is something for everyone.
I couldn't believe it when this came out and many of my friends were talking about this groundbreaking new game "Portal" That alone was such a super sleeper hit. Have you ever seen the fan made Portal flash game? It is awesome, basicly try to imagine a 2d Portal game with GBA style graphics.
