What is the PACER test of the Cooper FitnessGram Test?
Where would I find what the PACER test of the Cooper FitnessGram Test is? How do I practice for the PACER test? How old do I have to be to take the PACER test?

Hi cruise_t!
PACER is the acronym of Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run. It is a fitness test that consist of different stages adapted from the 20 meter shuttle run test. The test is progressive and easy at the beginning and it gets harder as you go to another level or stage. This test will provide a valid and fun alternative to the usual distance run test for measuring aerobic capacity and recommended for all ages.
You will find the instructions on how to do this test at ithaca.edu. This is just a brief summary of how it is done.
There is a test objective which is to run as long as possible back and forth across a 20 meter distance at a pace that is specified and gets faster every minute.
These are the guidelines when administering the test:
* The test tape has 21 levels or 21 minutes and allows nine seconds to run the distance during the first minuet.
* One beep indicates the end of a lap
* triple beeps at the end of each minute indicate the end of a level and an increase in speed. Inform the student that the speed will increase. Remind the students not to start too fast and they must begin with a slow speed. They are allowed for about 9 seconds to run the 20 meter distance during the first minute.
* If a student is unable to reach the line when the beep sound, he should be given two more beeps to attenmp to regain the pace before letting him out
* You can test groups of student in a single time
