What is the origin of the "picnic table bear" photos?
Who took them and where?

"picnic table bear" was originally photographed by Bruce and Monica Robb in Birchwood, CA. The date of the photograph is not specified, but it was reported by WEAU.com on Sept. 26th, 2008. The couple reported that the bear had been visiting their property for a few weeks, usually raiding trash cans and bird feeders. On this particular morning, the bear was sitting at the picnic table snacking on popcorn they had left out for the birds.

If we could dart these bears and run a blood analysis, I'm sure we could trace the 'picnic' gene back to the ancestors of Yogi.
Even though most of his picnics took place on the ground, we would be able to trace this odd behavior and why it has evolved to using an actual table for this 'picnic' process.
That's a great picture of a picnic bear, but I don't think it's the same one - it's much smaller than the bear in the other two photos.
Could there be a subspecies of picnic bear - are they slowly and quietly infiltrating backyards and picnic areas across North America?
