What is the official soccer ball size for children ages 5 to 7?
My son is 6 years old and will be playing soccer this summer is a children's league. His grandfather bought him a soccer ball for this birthday, but it seems rather large for his age. The box indicated that the soccer ball he received is a size 5. What size ball should he be using for practicing? Is there an official ball size for different ages? What do they range from? I want him to learn to use what is officially used for his age group. Where can I purchase the correct soccer ball from online?

Soccer balls sizes vary to accommodate for the strength of kick, so a size 5 ball would be very difficult for a small child. It is harder with less give. Make sure to buy a FIFA approved ball as well because then you know the ball meets standard requirements for its size.
In general...
Size 3- This sized ball is typically used for kids’ soccer. This is a good ball for 3-7 year old kids.
Size 4- Moving up the spectrum of play, a size 4 ball would usually be used during games played by children aged 8-12.
Size 5- The official sized ball used by professionals. Typically used by all soccer players beginning at the age of 13.
Soccer balls can be purchased from Amazon.com or an online sporting store, like Dick's Sporting Goods or soccer specialty sites like soccerpro.com
