What is the most unusual or best free sample that you've ever ordered and received?

While it may not really be all that weird, I was kind of appalled to discover that KY will send you free samples of lubricants and massage oils in the mail. Yes, I have ordered these, and I also used them. Many of them were so awesome that I later went back and purchased them. They will send you samples of the warming massage oil, as well as many other products, and I ordered mine through the free sample section of WalMart.com. I have gotten a lot of free samples from here, and there are plenty of things that I have received samples of and then later gone back to buy the actual product. I get soap samples, deodorant samples, shampoo samples, laundry detergent samples, and even fish food samples.
I also like to sign up for free promotional offers when they are issued by the company. I am a huge fan of advertising collectibles, and I have been since I was a kid. My parents were in foodservice (sales), so a lot of the things that I considered to be toys were actually advertising and promotional items that were given to my parents. For example, I had all of the Dole plush characters, and I had a Heinz ketchup man alarm clock. My favorite toy of all time was a stuffed version of Chester Cheetah. Now, I collect Pillsbury Doughboy collectibles, and I also like the Green Giant and the California Raisins. They used to offer Pillsbury points that would allow you to save up and order these kinds of things from the Pillsbury store, and i have received countless Pillsbury Doughboy dolls, toys, and even a set of Corelle dishes.
Another one of the cooler promotional gifts that I got for free was from Prilosec OTC. They ran a Bunko promotional campaign a few years back ,and you could sign up online for a pink gift pack. They sent me a set of purple fuzzy dice (the kind that you hang from your rear view mirror), a flaming fuzzy dice (it had heartburn), a set of Bunko score keeping tablets and dice, and a pink fuzzy boa (like the Red Hat ladies wear, except it was pink). That was a really cool gift pack, and no one believed that I got it for free. They also continue to send me Prilosec OTC free samples and coupons in the mail.

M$The next best thing (that really only values girls) is feminine hygiene products. Every company out there offers them - I went to all of their sites on day and ended up with TONS of samples, including a set of these adorable little cases from OB.

After that, me and my roommate went on a sample-spree. Though we ended up with a lot of silly posters, calendars, brochures, or more, we also ended up with lemon-powder, razors, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, iced tea, hashbrowns, markers, and more. I can't even remember all the awesome things we got.
The magazines were definitely the best value, but as it's no longer available - the hygiene products was a GREAT deal!

M$I recently lost my link for my favorite FREEBIE/Sample site so if you wouldn't mind sharing how about posting yours on here. I visit the home site of my favorite brand names to look for samples & coupons. I've also visited Walmart's Sample site, http://instoresnow.walmart.com/In-Stores-Now-Free-Samples-And-Tools.aspx
FREE SAMPLES, FREE TOOLS, FREE MUSIC, SPECIAL SAVINGS.

M$I usually go to http://www.freakyfreddies.com/] for samples. I like the way they have it set up and there are plenty of freebies available in different categories.
So far the oddest thing I've gotten via a free sample is Bacon Salt. Now I'm a bacon fanatic, so I thought "gee, this will be interesting. And possibly weird." The sample just arrived late last week - and it's both interesting and weird. Apologies in advance to Bacon Salt fans here, but the stuff is pretty icky. We tried it on some grilled vegetables last night for dinner and not only did they not get a nice, smokey bacon flavor - they kind of tasted rotten. And while I personally didn't think anything of it, my spouse pointed out that bacon-flavored salt is just plain unusual.
I'm still requesting samples, so I'm sure I'll eventually get something even stranger. But the taste of the Bacon Salt on the veggies? Definitely unusual :)

M$I remember that my sister had told me to expect a package from Unilever (she usually does most of my online registrations for me), but I was surprised at the content. I could use it to cook for at least one month and still have a little left.
The most unusual sample I have ever received was a facial cream in a sachet. It was well packed but when I opened it, it was empty; not dry, but empty. I guess it was an error, but I was disappointed.

M$Perhaps the best free sample I've ever received was more of a freebie after purchasing cosmetics at E.L.F. For a purchase of roughly $30, they sent me free flip flops, a free nail polish and a six-month magazine subscription. Considering I also got a ginormous bag of cosmetics for that $30, I think that is a fantastic deal. Of course after the magazine subscription ran out, the publisher hounded me to order more, but overall a fantastic buy.

M$I was promoting Punjana teabags. This was a great little job, once I'd managed to erect the stand! I was making tea for people to try, giving away samples of the teabags and if the customer bought a few packs, giving them a tea cloth. The promotion lasted three days and went well, I had a lot of sales, at the end I asked the sales manager what to do about the sample teabags and tea cloths that were left over. His reply was, you did a good job, keep them as a bonus!
I didn't need to buy teabags for months and I'm still using the tea cloths to this day!

M$I think the most unusual and surprising free sample I ever got was for Booger Wipes. I guess it was this new product for babies and little kids where you use these wipes (that to me, seemed like any other baby wipe) to dig boogers out of your kids' noses. I actually checked them out a bit, and not only were they tres pricey, but I never got why they were supposed to work so well. Plus they packaged them in this bright green plastic that was made to resemble the color of snot. I felt icky just touching the package.
The hypochondriac in me was mentally washing my hand eighteen times after getting that free sample. I'd rather take more wrinkle cream!

M$The best truly free sample that I ever got was with no purchase whatsoever -- it just came randomly in the mail one day. It was a Schick Intuition razor, the kind that has shaving soap built in to the razor blade. That was really cool, even though I prefer Gillette razors most of the time.

M$I had this idea for making a few dolls. And making some FX props for a movie I am working on as volunteer. Somehow, and I cannot for the life of me remember how I stumbled on it found a web site with dental samples.
I thought it would be one or two. But they sent me enough stuff to make full sets of teeth, dental prosthetics, bones, fingers, fingernails, eyeballs, dolls. A whole box of full size products for making anything I want!
I have it sitting in my crafting closet waiting.
The next best was Underwear. I got in on that free sample of Hanes No ride up ladies panties. And that was by far a sample that convinced me to ditch my other underwear and get new ones. Granted I got the full briefs sample, but they really don’t slip, creep up or loose their shape. But I am now a fan of the full briefs instead of the fancy high cut style.

That's pretty funny about making a pillow. It's fun getting free samples!
Super cool, @girlieq3000!
Speaking of the KY samples - I once went to the Everything To Do With Sex Show in London Ontario (they also have a bigger one in Toronto). I have NEVER seen so many free samples! Every one of about 150 booths gave SOMETHING out - I ended up with two FULL bags of samples of condoms, lube, massage oil - and more. Trade shows of ANY kind are definitely awesome - not just for samples, but for services! I've gotten everything from free massages, manicures, professionally cleaned glasses, food, toys - even ZOOM teeth whitening! Trade shows are INSANE for free samples, and I definitely suggest you check them out - not just generic ones, but ones themed to your appeal!
