I'm going to go with Aikido on this one. (pronounced "a key doh") and krav maga
Aikido mean "the Way of unifying (with) life energy".
Aikido is one of the most respected martial arts in japan, it was formed around the time of war and is taught in police departments across the US and Canada. And for good reason, it minimizes prolonged harm to your attacker and presents the most affective defense for your body.
They use a lot of techniques with science behind the principles, it helps you build unbelievable amounts of confidence and strength. Its also one of the few martial arts that incorporates sword and weapon training directly into forms.
Another very powerful _offensive_ martial art is ninja (ninja kinetics "ninjutsu" or "shido/Budo taijutsu" (japan) ) still taught in some remote places in new york city. And remote places of japan.
Its teachings are more assassin and offensive based.
