What is the most harm that you have done to yourself or to someone else because you were too absorbed by your iphone?

I'm one of the few people that really don't care what else a phone can do other than send or receive a call. But I've watched people who were so overly attentive to their phone, that they have bumped into trees, signs, and other people while walking. Have you hurt yourself or someone else because you were too engrossed with your iphone? Or have you been hurt by someone else who was using their phone?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I can honestly say that I have never harmed anyone or had harm come to me because of someone else. However, I have in fact harmed myself. Quite similar to the picture featured in this question, I became absorbed in finding my favorite song to play as I went for my morning walk. I walked right off a curb, and twisted my ankle. I'm glad that it was the only injury I had sustained, because I actually stepped off the curb into the street. Thankfully I had a friend who saved me from disaster. My ankle was swollen and I had to stay off of it for a few days, but I had plenty of entertainment during this time. I must have downloaded 50 free iPhone applications trying to find the right one to pass the time.

I don't own an iPhone, but being too attached to any smartphone can definitely be a serious problem. I guess the most publicized issue is texting while driving. It goes without saying that texting behind the wheel can be lethal for you and your passengers as well as the innocent and unfortunate people you collide with. It's amazing how much effort society has invested into convincing people not to do it, yet the problem still persists.

Perhaps the funniest situation I've heard about is the girl who fell into a manhole because she was texting instead of watching where she was walking. I've embedded the video below, and while she could have been seriously injured, I still have to admit that it's a pretty amusing story.
