What is the most effective natural sleep aid?

I've used Melatonin and Valerian. Sleepytime tea actually works pretty well for me. My friend just gave me some L-Tryptophan to try. What do you use to get to sleep?
Tip for best answer: M$0.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I haven't tried anything like those, but I do sometimes need to unwind before trying to sleep. Things like relaxation or yoga can be helpful. I often find that if I am having problems sleeping, just spending 15 minutes or so in the quite helps....it allows my mind to cycle a bit, before laying down. Also no caffeine, sweets before bed.

Natural sleeping aids are safe and have no side effects. Here are some great natural aids those are very effective:

Essential oils such as: Chamomile (Roman - safe & effective especially for babies and kids), Jasmine, Lavender, Marjoram, Neroli, Rose, and Ylang Ylang all have a calming effect that will provide relaxation and sleep.

The following herbs have a terrific effect on relieving the symptoms of mild insomnia: California Poppy, Chamomile, Kava, Lemon Balm, Passion Flower and Valerian Root. Chamomile tea often proves most effective when sipped a half an hour to forty-five minutes before going to bed.

I have used Sleep MD which the primary ingredient is melatonin and it works very well for me. I feel rested the next day and not hungover the way the other sleep aids that contain diphenhydramine makes me feel.

I am a very light sleeper so when I first heard about it I didn't really think it would work but it worked great.
