What is the most disappointing movie you've ever seen?

Are there any movies out there that just really, really let you down? Maybe you were expecting something great, but instead you got 3 hours of every conceivable type of setback (ala Peter Jackson's King Kong). Perhaps you had a lifelong obsession with The Hulk and you happened to blister your eyes with Eric Bana's portrayal of the comic hero.

So, what movies left you saying, "really? REALLY??"

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. I don't think I've ever left a theater angrier. I was super excited for it. First Star Wars movie to come out in almost 20 years awesome! Oh no, not awesome. The acting was terrible, the plot was stupid. Pod racing? What is that?! And Jar Jar, quite possibly the most useless character in the history of movies. Not to mention they changed the complete backstory of the droids. We used to think they were hundreds of years old and now it turns out that Anakin built C3PO?

And then a close second was Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones for one reason and one reason only. The long excruciating minutes of love scenes between Anakin and Amidala were horrible. They had no chemistry and the acting was horrible. Natalie Portman is a decent actor but Hayden Christensen could barely speak English and let alone pretend to love Natalie Portman.

And I have many more to add to the list, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull (I mean really? rather forget it existed), Wolverine. Wolverine had its own category of awful, the Planet of the Apes remake, Psycho remake, most remakes...

Anakin was down right creepy - no female I know was even interested in the character, let alone consider them a romantic character...ewwwww....

100% agree with your choice!

I'm not even a huge Star Wars nut and even I was flat-out offended by the newer episodes - 50% of that movie was made on a computer! (and yes, Jar Jar, realllly?) Great answer!

My biggest disappointment in film was the Blair Witch Project. This was the first time that people were seeing the new technique called 'Shaky Camera on Steroids' and seeing it in larger doses on the big screen.

Of course today I can handle Shaky Camera moves... but back then it was something new and it gave nausea a new name. Not only was I feeling sick towards the end, but my date ending up falling asleep since the only way he could keep from throwing up was to close his eyes. I would have walked out on that movie, but my date looked so cute sleeping that I didn't want to wake him up.

I do believe there are times when using this technique creates a realism and new perspective... but for the whole movie?! NO!

When ever I hear about someone making an entire movie by using a small handheld camera and using a camera man with Parkinson's Disease... my first thought is that they're cheap and lazy, and I know the movie will suck.

And yes... I have never watched Cloverfield!

That could have happen to me a long time ago. But today time is valuable to me. Why would anyone in their right mind give up three hours of their life to sit through junk?

The Da Vinci Code (2006)
National Treasure (2004)

Two horrible stories that kept coming back to the start and beginning again. The code must have been a European thing. Really in the USA who cares..

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince irked me for some reason. It got me so mad at the movie, that it made me actually read all of the books so three cheers for literacy!

All the ones when I was young and the girl wouldn't make-out with me. Might not have been what you meant but it was the first thing that came to mind.
