Motorcycle helmets are made of different material.

The outer layer or cover is either made up of fiberglass which are heavier and the injection-molded plastic which is lighter, being the reason has become popular at present.They help resist penetration and abrasion, of the intial impact.
Then the inner liner. This inner liner is made of polystyrene foam called the styrofoam.This helps spread put the shock of the impact as it absorbs it.

Most look to be made with an ABS shell though some are made with Fibreglass shells.
