What is the market value of organic, six row robust malting barley?
This barley has passed all organic food-grade analysis, including those standards imposed by the testing agency, BRIESS Malt and Ingredient Co. It will be used for an organic beer produced by an organic brewery. As an organic farmer knowing that organic FEED grade barley sells for $6.50 per bushel ($0.134 per pound) and USDA market news informs me that CONVENTIONAL robust malting barley currently sells for $3.35/bushel.
